Irving Renquist (Brian Wohl) - The consummate shiftless twenty-something. Irving's brief stint at Columbia College, attempting a degree in radio, left him in a general malaise. During that time he found Saundra Hedges, a really for real ghost hunter. In their brief but torrid affair, Irving found something he could really sink his teeth into, the prospect of finding proof of life eternal, a world beyond our own, the existence of an after life.

For several years it became an all consuming passion, well after the relationship with Hedges came to an end. He brought his lifetime friend Julia Kelby on board with him and together, they took a shot at the big time, securing a deal to write, shoot and produce a segment for a television pilot called Chicago Haunts, funded by Ed Landry's flailing Spectral Productions.

Even as this exciting opportunity dawns, however, Irving finds his attention drawn elsewhere, to the next big idea, to the next far-too-lofty goal, to his next crazy pursuit. But for now, he is simply Irving Renquist, Ghost Hunter.

Julia Kelby (Erica Lynn Schmeck) - Growing up with Irving as a best friend was alternately the most enjoyable and most frustrating thing in Julia's young life. He had the ability to infuriate her one moment and make her completely melt the next. As they grew from High School to College, Julia made a conscious effort not to follow Irving's example and spend her entire time partying and avoiding class, managing to graduate near the top of her class at Roosevelt University with a degree in Journalism. That the two years after college yielded little in the way of "serious journalism" coming her way, she found herself drawn into Irving's world of ghost hunting and what her boyfriend Tim Bielski refers to as Junk Journalism.

Beside Irving, a significant speed bump on Julia's road to success and respectability was the disappearance of her younger sister Christine, who vanished from her dorm room at Iowa State. Julia never REALLY recovered from that, refusing to admit to herself or anyone else that she might be dead. She utilized every tool at her disposal, dragging Irving and his friend Lonnie Hayden into a full on, and ultimately fruitless investigation.

Lonnie Hayden (Marc Muszynski) - Lonnie fancies himself Q to Irving's James Bond. He's managed to somehow procure and/or make anything Irving has requested from him. (Though attempts to, on his own, get a rocket launcher, have proven fruitless)

Lonnie has an IQ of 184, something he'll likely tell you if you spend enough time with him. He spends 95% of his life in the garage of his Uncle Richard, who reluctantly provides electricity, heat and high speed internet for a nominal fee. This situation came about only after his own parents forced him out in an effort to encourage A) self reliance and B) gainful employment.

Instead Lonnie began counterfeiting dollar bills to pay for his various pursuits. He estimates that nearly $37,430 of his bogus bucks are now in general circulation, and rationalizes that only the big, faceless, corporate banks will hurt from it.

Besides a possible friendship with Julia, Lonnie's only real ambition in life is to make Irving Renquist proud of him.

Dotti Parker (Angela Wascher) - Dotti Parker is an outsider to this motley crew of ghost hunters. In fact, she only met Irving just recently when he paid the check for a lunch at The Green Mill Tavern, her place of employment.

Dotti prides herself on her unpredictability, moving from one obsession to another with nary a second thought or glance, something that often confounds her father. Despite being a college graduate, she has yet to narrow down a choice from the list of several colleges interested in bringing her in.

Conventionality bores her to tears, as do most of the men who try desperately to pick her up at the register at the fabulous Green Mill Tavern. Which is why she was so caught off guard when Irving Renquist walked in, handed her his business card and declared himself a ghost hunter.

And as it happens, she has a ghost.
